My two roommates have macs and I am unable to get them to connect to the cable modem, also. No hostname was supplied, however, as the install-guy was never even aware that linux existed on my computer. I think that perhaps tomorrow I will pick up a second NIC for the computer that the connection is working on to see if that second NIC can connect. Alternately, is there any support for usb cable modem support under linux? Anything that I have read on the issue seems to say that there is no hope at the moment.
