SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] attack on opensource, attack on economy?
|
Hello all, Please excuse this really off the cuff commentary, I know that somebody can do a much better job than me. Has anybody yet written up an article somewhere that was comparing the issues on the attack of opensource with the current downturn of the economy?
I wonder if there is any possible linking things saying that well since according to the SPA there are trillions of dollars worth of stolen software and tonns of music also being stolen >From one perspective it looks like MS, and the music industry are winning the battle to make sure that software will not be stolen and that music will not be stolen....
Is it possible that the entire econmy has been going full bore because of all this "theft"? How many computers where bought and used that wouldn't have if there was no possiblity of using the software for free. (and then used the software to build companies to really gun the economy) ex: how large is the mp3 player industry currently (or was it before the death of napster for free?)
I am not sure that this is reality... It might be intresting to find out if anybody has done an indepth analysis.
