It's not really that simple. The world is becoming closed in now. By that
I mean, it's a smaller and smaller world, and we are bound to develope more
enemies as previously ignorable countries and cultures increasingly seem
like our nieghbor. The standards which much of the middle east accept as
"normal" is quite facist, and would receive huge condenmation if it was in
Europe. We have to stop excusing unethical governments which are evil, as
being some moral ethical manisefestation of a cultural curiosity. The
world is too small to just igore brutal totalitarian theologically based
racist gvernments around the world.
In fact, we do even WORSE than that. We compare, straight up, productive
ethical Democracies with facists governments.
If you think gas prices is proping up Suadi Arbia, think again. The per
Capita GDP of Saudi Arbia is about $10,500 a year, versus $18,500 a year in
Israel, and $17,200 a year in Greece!!
It's todays popular manifestation of Islam killing these countries, with
the help of brutal dictatorships. The only exception to this are Gulf
Nations so small, that they consist of essentially one tribe. And while we
are wading into a Vietnam like hearts and mind campain in the Middle East,
we should keep in mind that without forceful occupation of these countries,
and a monopoly on the violence, it has almost no chance of working.
Why? These are nations of CHILDREN. 42% of Iraq is under 15 years of age
with a 58 year of age life expectency. Iran 36%/60, Jordan 40%/69,
Afganistan 43%/44, Pakistan 41%/60, Saudia Arabia 43%/66, Syria 41%/70,
Yemen 48%/61, Egypt 36%/65.
Put in perspective, the US has 21% of the population under 15 and 74 the
life expectency, Canada 19/76, Mexico 34/73, ISrael 29%/76, England 19%,75
Your looking at nations with 40% of the population under 15, and with the
only education available spiked with sensless anti-semitism, racism and
anti-americanism....whose future is brutally hopeless because of LOCAL
culture and politics.
