Membership - More than any other facet of NYLXS, what makes it special
is the participation of our members. NYLXS's motto is "Leadership by Doing",
and participation by our membership is what gives The New York Linux Scene its
juice. Volunteering, sharing, working, teaching and learning is what makes
NYLXS valuable to it's members, and the community at large. Joining NYLXS
is not like joining the Zoo, or PBS. Money is welcome here, but your time and
community service is our goal. Only special people obtain membership of NYLXS.
People who volunteer their time and resources month after month. Our membership
is defined by time spent helping others. We have no corporate members, and no
corporate oversight It's not that we hate business, in fact we love business
and hope all of them use Free Software. It's just that we are about individuals
empowering other individuals. We're about building a better future, to assure
the freedom to innovate, learn, and to participate in this open society with
Free Software and Free Computing
